Good morning, afternoon or evening. Whenever you may be reading this email I pray the "how" is the same. By the "how" I mean the one consistent thing we can always have, no matter the time of day. That "how" is the reality that God has given us life to live. God gives this to us, we should be thankful for it, and we should allow that to steer our thoughts throughout every day, no matter the time of day. But life sometimes gets in the way of that doesn't it? We get selfish with our time, we focus on the things rather than the giver of the things. Life gets "out of FOCUS" and we must "REFOCUS" our thoughts. Cue last night in James.
Last night in James we looked at two types of people who seem to short change God and his perfect gifts to us. By short change I mean life gets out of focus. One group of people viewed their time as their own and the other group of people viewed their stuff as their own. James seemingly hit this once by saying God was the giver of every good and perfect gift right? But James strikes again. James gives a strict warning and some great correction to these people, and us I might add. So the encouragement for us today is that no matter the time of day, no matter the stuff we've accumulated or have been given, may we be found using it for the Lord. It all belongs to the Lord and it's all be given by the Lord. Use it wisely.
Attached below are the sermon notes from last night. I'd encourage you to give them a look.
COMING UP QUICK!
GIMC - THIS WEEKEND - It all begins for our students on Saturday morning. Meet at church at 9:30a to get ready for canvassing. We then will meet back at the church that evening at 6:30p for some time with our missionary. This is such a great time for us a church to hear about what God is doing around the world. We here at RRBC literally have folks around the world, taking the gospel to all nations. How? Come this weekend and find out. But better than that, be here Saturday morning to be a part of that!
GENESIS DNOW - March 13-15th - This weekend is coming up very soon. We are ready and hope your students are as well. While the shirt size deadline has passed it's not too late to sign up and/or pay. All the info you need can be found on our DNOW PAGE.
SPRING BREAK HIKING MISSION - We are in the midst of planning a trip to North GA for some ministry on the Appalachian Trail. While there we will have the opportunity to feed folks and begin gospel conversations. So it's a ministry of the meat either way you slice it. (pun intended.) Stay tuned for details. This will be a 1 or 2 night mission, low cost. We'll need plenty of adults as well so parents, as always, you are more than welcome if not encouraged to join your student for this trip.
That's it for today. See you all this weekend at some point!
Good morning! Hope you're all staying dry and enjoying the break from school. Lots to discuss and my keyboard has a demon in it, so I'll get right to the details!
We continued our series James last night. The winter break crowd allowed for a slower pace which I enjoyed. Great passage and some "REAL" issues for all of us. There is a huge battle going on today and "YOU" happen to be at the very center of it, in more ways than one.
That's it for now. Again, sorry about any miscues above. My keyboard for real has some issue and I may have missed some errors in correcting things.
Have a weekend and we'll see everyone Sunday!
Be in prayer for this weekend as well. Low Country Boil Friday and "Family Day" Sunday morning!
I hope your week has been great thus far, it’s definitely been a rainy one!
In the Rock...
Last night we continued through our series through the book of James! Often called the wisdom literature of the New Testament, James challenges our lives as followers of Christ. He calls us to authentic, genuine followship of Jesus. He helps us to see what it looks like when faith and life collide. Last night, as we worked through 3:1-12 James challenged our tongue, our words. We saw that our words are important, that we should be wise with them and that one day we will all stand before the Lord and answer for the careless words we have spoken! If your student hasn’t been with us in the Rock lately, send them on! It’s been a great few weeks and will continue to be!
Thankful to serve alongside incredible leaders as we serve some great students and parents and an even greater Savior.
Have a great weekend!
Good afternoon! Hope everyone is safe on this rainy day. I know of several folks who have had some issues today at the their house due to the amount of rain and such. So really hoping all of you have escaped any issues.
I've spent all day working through the books of 1 & 2 Samuel. A great look into the great lengths God will go through to work out His plan for all creation and for His own glory. it was quite a task working through some 27 chapters today but so encouraged by the hope that God is always working and often times doing so in ways we could never imagine. So many truths learned today but none greater than the reality that our God is working. Trust that today and allow it to give you this same hope. Even in the midst of a rainy day that may or may not have brought some unplanned house maintenance or roadside stops. Even in this, God is working.
We continued our walk through the book of James last night. We did so by looking at the foundational passage for the entire book, James 2:14-26. It was doesn't get any more clearer than v. 26. Or does it? We hoped to provide more clarification to this section and to better understand the relationship with our Faith and what we do. As always, we've provided the sermon below for you to follow along with our study. We just ask that you don't "Pelosi" it please.
Sorry if this seems quick but I'm sort of in a hurry to check on the house....in the process of converting it to an ark. Have a great weekend! Hope to see you Saturday night!
Why a blog?
A great way for parents and ministry to connect and continue the conversation of what's going on at The Rock.
