If this post is bad I'm blaming on the fact that it's 76 degrees outside today and I was ready to get out and enjoy it. I'll get right to the good stuff. Last night at The Rock we turned a corner in our series "Living Clean in a Dirty World." We've been dealing with questions and issues our students are facing...they actually wrote out questions and issues they're facing. We want to lead them to Scripture which provides answers. We also wanted to equip them in how to deal with these things internally. Last night we turned the corner from internal to external. Many of our students have friends who are in the middle of things/issues and need help. We want to teach our students that loving your neighbor as yourself calls for us to fight for them. We want to be James 5:20 people. But how? How close to the fire do I get without actually being consumed myself? How do I go about fighting for my friend without falling into this sin myself? We provided a list of 6 things that will help us as we walk into these situations. 1. Have an answer - Know what the Bible says and where you stand. (truth) 2. Have Love - be compassionate and loving towards them. (grace) 3. Have community - a place where you belong....a place to retreat...common unity 4. Have Courage/Boldness - to stand alone. (But with Christ even when we stand alone we're never really standing alone. He is with us! 5. Have a standard - a line in the sand...a belief you will not back down on. God's Word. 6. Have Time - don't give up....you can always pray. These are helpful as we seek to help those that are wandering from the truth. Things that will ensure we too are not swept into the fire. Great for our students with questions and great for us as leaders/parents dealing with the same stuff. DNOW - March 3-5DNOW is next weekend and we are all set. We do have a few needs here and there. Host homes are always a potential need. So if you have home and you are willing to open it to some students and leaders please let me know!
As of now the sign up is over. It's hard enough finding places to stay for our students...even harder as we begin to divide them up and find homes that will accommodate all the requests, expectations, "demands", and needs. We may or may not have space for late sign ups....your best bet is to email or text me and let me see what we have for that specific grade/gender. MONEY IS DUE by next Wednesday so do your best to get that in by then. Have a great weekend and get outside to enjoy the weather!
