Wow, that escalated quickly...
Sincerely praying that everyone that reads this is fine and trusting in God during such uncertain times. It's scary, different, strange, weird, somehow peaceful yet terrifying. While we're not sure what tomorrow may bring we are sure of one thing....God. He is in control and because of that we simply trust Him and follow Him.
I wanted to touch base regarding The Rock's plan moving forward as well as a DNOW update.
Below you'll find a letter I was going to email to you but then decided to simply house it in on our website.
I truly hope you all are good, sane, and simply trusting God through this.
DNOW & Plans moving forward...
In the wake of cancelling DNOW 2020 we are left with many shirts we had ordered and needed to order 2 weeks prior to the event in order for them to arrive on time. Of course 3 weeks ago there was no way to know the even would be cancelled. We had no option other than to be ready for the weekend. Of course things changed quickly. Thankfully no other items needed for the weekend had been purchased, only the shirts.
With this in mind we are offering parents who have paid for DNOW some options.
Option 1 – We can give you a refund of $15 and your student still receive their shirt. The other $10 will go to pay for the shirt.
Option 2 – We keep the entire payment for DNOW ($25) and your student receives their shirt. Next year your student will only pay $10 for DNOW which equals the cost of a new DNOW shirt.
For those who signed, for whom we have a shirt for, we are asking that you pay $10 to receive the shirt we have for your student. If not, we understand. But you will have the option to purchase the shirt we have reserved for your student. If not, we will attempt to sell the shirt to compensate for that lost money. On that note…we may have some DNOW shirts for sell soon! Stay tuned.
Thank you for your patience as we deal with this situation. It could have been much worse though we have a few details to work through still. It broke our hearts to cancel DNOW but looking back what a wise decision it was! In your timing please let us know how we need to handle your DNOW payment.
The Rock SM still plans to meet ONLINE this Wednesday beginning at 6:45p. We will be using the platform of Instagram Live, YouTube Live and Facebook Live.. Students can find us on Instagram @therock_sm. On YouTube just search for The Rock SM and look for the logo. For Facebook just go to “therocksm.” When there, students can interact, follow along as we spend an hour or so together. We’ll encourage, disciple, fellowship and simply “be together” during this time. Our plan is to do this moving forward, for however long the situation deems necessary. We can’t stand to not “be together” in some way.
Our Sunday School classes are preparing and discussing ways to meet online for their normal class. Be on the lookout for communication for them on how your student can connect and still experience that time together.
As you know our church is working hard to be salt and light in our church community as well as the community at large during this time. We encourage you to get involved. As you do look for ways your family can get involved. It may be that you simply pray and use your time wisely as a family. It may mean that you do more physically. Whatever it is we encourage you to do unto the Lord, not man!
This is a different time for the church at large. It can be scary, or it can be exciting. None of us chose this route but here it is, what will we do with this moment? How will we react to this moment? I believe the what and how can be determined by the WHO of our hearts.
May God give you strength, assurance and hope that He is in control. And may we live as though we believe those things with all our heart!
Know we are here for you in any way and that we are praying for you and your family!
“Greater is he who is in you than he that is in the world.” I John 4:8
