Welcome to winter! Here's hoping next week brings the spring weather back to us! Wanted to take a minute and update you on what's going on at The Rock SM. A few things this weekend and then a few things down the pike. This Weekend - GIMCThis weekend kicks off with a fury of RRBC members going out into the community with Easter invites. We need everyone who can to come and join the fun. This is as simple as placing a card on a front door. This big invite is a great way for those in our community to know we care about him. Did I mention we will have donuts and coffee here when you arrive? The party starts at 9am here at the fellowship hall. If you and your family are looking for a mission trip you can do together....this is it! Later that night, 6pm, the students will meet in the gym/rec area for some games and time with our missionary. Our missionary this year is the West Georgia FCA director Jeff Hughes. Jeff will be sharing some information about the work of FCA in our area. We are asking all students to bring a dessert with them.....we'll take care of the pizza and drinks. Hoping your making this Saturday a priority as we seek to go out into our community to show we care and then meet back up that night to show the missionaries we also care about them. See ya there! Last NightWe had some great conversation last night regarding addictions. When we think of addictions we typically think drugs, alcohol, porn and other "big" things. But when we think about what addiction is we begin to realize there are many things we become addicted to in life. Addictions come from temptations and can be resisted but we know this is hard. In fact...it's so hard we often can't do it alone....we need help. Last night we sought to bring help. The greatest thing we can say about helping those with addictions is this. Jesus must be our greatest satisfaction. When Jesus is our greatest satisfaction everything pales in comparison. When Jesus is the very reason we do everything we do we are challenged to actually consider everything we do. Why do we struggle with always looking down? Looking at our phone? Why is Facebook something we check 4 times an hour? Why do we find it necessary to snap our chat? Why not actually enjoy our food, and those we're sharing it with, rather than sharing our food with everyone we're not with? Our phones offer a world and an opportunity for us to get and have what we already have in Christ. We seek companionship, purpose, attention, identity in life and when that gets tough we turn to that which is easy. Addictions go past the "big things" and often are more dangerous in the small things...our phones. The simple fact of last night was this: Me enjoying life and me glorifying God are not at odds. In fact they are one in the same. When Jesus is our greatest satisfaction God receives glory. We'll continue our talk and panel next week at The Rock as we seek to answer questions and receive wisdom in helping others with these same questions. Here is a video from last night you should look at....it offers a little more direction of our time together.

Good morning! Hope everyone endured the storm last night and enjoyed the reminder of God's grace this morning.
Just a real quick update today as we prepare for DNOW this weekend. All the information is currently up on the DNOW page of our website. Make sure you take advantage of all that information. If you have any questions check there first but by all means feel free to email or text if you need anything. Last night we took some time to continue investigating how we can Live Clean in a Dirty World. The crazy thing is Matthew 7 helps us out with this pursuit. Matthew 7 happens to be where our teaching will come from during DNOW. So we were able to join the two and begin to prepare our hearts for this weekend all while keeping our direction of Living Clean. Last night helped excite me even more for this weekend. Sometimes the "things to do" of an event weigh me down a bit. The danger is you can't see the sun for the cloud/rain/heavy wind. But last night helped remind me that this weekend we'll help students understand what Jesus has said to us. All the details, drama, and things to do become worth it with this simple reminder. I'm praying for this event and ask that you join me in that prayer. Again....head to the DNOW page for all the information including where your student is staying this weekend. It may be helpful just to double check your student is on the list but not coming and NOT on the list but plans to come. THIS IS BIG: We really need to know if your student plans to come. We have several that haven't paid and we also have several that aren't staying both nights. To help us have the best idea and information to tell our host homes, please let us know if your student is coming to DNOW but not spending the night, is coming to DNOW but only spending one night, and so on. We need to know those details up front. This helps my nerves when I notice someone is not at DNOW anymore....the same questions you would ask as parents I also ask. So help us out and let us know those details prior to the weekend. Many of you will work that out with their leaders but I'd still love to know. All of this to make sure we have a grip on the schedule and the wellness of your student. No need to respond if your student is with us the whole weekend but if they have a busy weekend and need to break away for a little bit (and we completely understand) just take 5 minutes and send us a quick email letting us know. Thanks so much and again, join us in praying for KINGDOM COME DNOW! |
