After a little time off I hope you'll allow this post to be a tad longer than usual. Maybe. We've been finishing up the school year by looking at Romans 8. Romans 8 is such a huge chapter of the Bible. It's encouraging, assuring and also brings a dose of reality to our lives. We've been challenged in the Word this year to live CLEAN, Holy or set apart. This is not an easy life for many reasons. Probably one of the hardest reasons is because it's like you're swimming upstream or going against the grain. That's a tough calling but one that Romans 8 gives us the peace, strength, and assurance to accomplish. Our only hope is Christ. If our lives boast only in the cross we are sure to be met with suffering, persecution and even loss. For students, and even adults, this is tough. Imagine what a typical classroom or locker room looks like. What is filled with daily? If you're thinking holiness I'm thinking you're mistaken. It's a war zone! Not to mention every other distraction that is fills that room and fill their house and fills their bedroom. This life that isn't wasted on temporary is tough. We need assurance. Romans 8 brings that and more. Last night we finished up our look at Romans by looking at verses 31-39. "What shall we say to these things?" "These things" are issues, troubles, doubts or fears we have we considering if living a Clean life is really possible. Can we live such a life? Romans 8 screams yes and the last few verses scream from the rooftops! Jesus is alive and because He is we can live our life with greater purpose. CLEAN CAMP June 26-30 ($200 until May 17th)Summer Camp will be here before you know it. As always the sooner folks can sign up the better. This helps us plan and get things in order. It's always good to have enough beds and food for the people going. You signing up is a great help to that end! A couple of things/dates to know about:
HELP NEEDED1. A large grill - We will be doing two cookouts this summer on Wednesday night during the Rock and need a large grill provided. If you have one or can get one please email chris@roopvilleroad.org. 2. ROCK COLLECTION - We are collecting the following items to be used during The Rock this summer. Our hope is to bring some excitement to The Rock this summer while also having some time for time in the Word. Trying something new. But we need the following. SILLY STRING - POP ICE - SIDEWALK CHALK - 2 liter drinks. We have some other things but we'll inform you of those later. Of course we could just go out and buy them but why not give you all an opportunity to help out too! SPLASH MISSION - May 22-23Each year we have the opportunity to go into the local schools and help them get ready for summer. It's amazing how much work goes into preparing the school for summer. This year we have had an amazing response for help. So much that I am sure we will need extra help. We need drivers, those to provide supervision, those to actually work, we need students, parents, and leaders. This is my cry for help. If you are able to help on May 22-23 from 9-3ish please email chris@roopvilleroad.org. Roatan Mission - July 8-15This is the last call for Roatan. Airfare is still being processed and shopped by our diligent travel agent! We do have a huge need for a female chaperone to go. If this is you please see Chris ASAP. This is a great week of hanging out with kids in the Colonnia, going door to door in the Colonnia and helping out the local church there. We go to strengthen the church. Cost of the trip is dependent on airfare and will be between $1200-$1350.
I believe that's most of everything....I'll let you off the hook for now! Praying for a strong finish to school and a good start to summer!
