Happy December! Hard to believe it's here already. With December comes a busy time of boredom in a way. The schedules are packed but then the kids get out of school and are seemingly bored. The working parent is trying to figure out what to do with them while they're home. It seems I'm already singing the line "and mom and dad can hardly wait for school to start again!" As a kid, teen and even young adult I could never understand that line.....I now understand a little better. Sometimes maturity or time can cause us to understand things a bit better can't they? Growing, maturing or maybe just making it to the other side of a situation has a way of bringing clarity. Much of what we teach our students is for the future. They do need encouragement now, there are things they can grasp and apply now, but many things they won't fully understand and see until they mature, get older, or make it to the other side of a situation. The encouragement is to keep fighting, keep teaching, keep leading, keep praying. Don't stop because you don't see it working. Consider your own life, raising, or maybe even your present. We're all slow learners. Time has a way of bringing clarity. Our hope and goal is to deposit something of worth that will one day surface in their hearts and lives.....much like a lyric to an old Christmas carol. Last NightHave you ever ask God what He expected of you? In anger, excitement, fear, lonliness or confusion? I think we've all been at this point at some time in our lives. We were able to dive into this question last night at The Rock. We'll finish up this short series next week. Last night we dove into the area of mercy/kindness. Micah 6:8 shares with us three things God requires us at followers to do. The sermon notes are below. I'd encourage you to look over them and be challenged to THINK - ACT - GO. ![]()
One change we're attempting to make around the Rock is to get back to our life group time after each sermon. This is a time where students get into groups and discuss the sermon a bit more, in groups, with leaders. This means our sermons need to be a bit shorter and a bit more to the point....more basic but still diving deep into what God has said. Below are the cards we gave out last night. The FRONT of the card have our announcements and devotion guide while the BACK has the sermon outline and group questions.
REFUELAs you know by now we have a trip scheduled. Actually we have two trips scheduled. This year we will be having a middle school and a high school refuel. We hope this helps the two groups have some more specific teaching and also see a development in their friendships, leadership, and discipleship. DESPOSITS ARE NOW NEEDED FOR BOTH TRIPS ($20) MIDDLE SCHOOL REFUEL PAYMENTS ARE NOW DUE ($75 FULL BALANCE) BELOW ARE THE INFO SHEETS FOR BOTH TRIPS.
